VEEG- final question.....

From photos found the head is wrapped. Question is, where are the cords & do they drag "somewhere"? Drag on our back, hidden on a heavy bulky thing like a heart monitor or what?

Thanks a bunch!!

About 6 weeks ago at a large educational hospital I had a 4 day VEEG. The almost weightless cord of each tiny EEG were clumped together at the base of my neck (most unattractive :p ) so just one cord came out of the cotton wrap covering it all. (I've seen photos of people who didn't have the fabric covers.)

The one cord coming out of everything -- not too heavy -- just ran to a small "box" belted to my waist 24/7. When I needed to go to the bathroom or or wash or whatever, I was free to remove that from my waist and hang from my neck, hold with my hand.... ????? (no bathing :o of course ).

That small "box" on my waist was attached to an electric cord maybe 20 feet long and it went to a computer box in a chest near my bed. That's it.

I hope I helped in some way. I'll answer any other questions if I can.

Thank You!!

I have a thing about surprises. Kinda like a bullet in the head. Something not expected!

Your are SO welsome -- and have many wishes for good luck

:o What did I say ?? I've done the VEEG thing twice .......

Each time I start off with a MRI (done w/wo dyes), then the PET, then, finally, moving to the "usual" - lol - hospital room for the VEEG.
The most important thing then is being starving and dying of thirst (you're denied food and water for the PEG for hours and hours and hours) Water and food is ALL that counts :D

There's no pain, some little discomfort (for tough old women like me). It's just so hideously BORING it's AWFUL.

Take along something/anything you can do in the bed - puzzles, books, anything. Find out ahead of time if you can take along a computer ... I could not. Beg for friends to visit and bring food.

They WANT you to have seizures, of course, so your meds will be reduced, you'll probably have those light "shows". I have to ride stationary bikes
Maybe you'll have to do without sleep ..... whatever causes you to have seizures they can record. That's why you're there.

I saw my surgeon Friday and he said I'd be having another VEEG and another neuro psych in 6 months. "just checking,". I'd rather have the 5 day VEEG than the 5 hour neuro psych.

You'll be uncomfortable, bored, miserable and just fine. This is a great test 100% for YOU. Best wishes - God bless.

Hi flopper,
peppermint explained the info to you really good. When I had my veeg I had the type done where they did surgery and drilled holes in my head to place 7 depth electrodes directly to my brain. Just like a regular veeg I had everything else done the same like peppermint explained. I found that I was really bored, and my Dr. made me drink diet soda because he knew it would cause me to have sz. The wires were very lite and I had one big cable attached to everything so I was able to get up and move around without any problems. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Sue
