This one came up today from our Newsbot--

--but I figured I should also post it over here (as I did in the Diabetes forum) given how many of us wonder if statins may contribute to neuropathy/myopathy (and how many have diabetic neuropathy):

It's just one more thing that makes me cautious about the tendency of satins to be used as if they were aspirin.

This is what I think caused mine. My PN is currently classified as idiopathic, so I'm playing detective and trying to figure out the cause. Here's why I think my PN is caused by meds...

1. I was taking no meds and had no PN symptoms before my heart surgery in June of 2009.
2. Was placed on Crestor about a month before surgery and took it for about 2 years.
3. PN started 12-18 months after surgery.
4. At the same time I stopped taking Crestor, I started taking Hyzaar for BP.
5. Just recently found out that Hyzaar can cause (0.01% chance) PN.

So that's around 4 years of taking a drug that's known or believed to cause PN. I'm now off the Hyzaar for about 6 weeks. The doctor said to give my body 2 weeks to remove all trace of hyzaar from my tissues and that puts me (hopefully) 4 weeks toward some amount of healing.
