Let's Redirect Our Mind & Get Outside~Add Responses
Ok we all know the laundry list of the negatives in a TBI. Let's use this thread (if you choose) to list the cool things we witness of nature. ALL WE NEED TO DO IS GO SIT OUTSIDE AND WATCH NATURE. It helps to calm us and redirect to things we might have taken for granted in our past life:D
Today I had seen a Blue Jay~I have never seen one where I live before, probably because in my previous life I was too busy to pay attention. In spiritual realm, the blue jay speaks of clarity and vision:wink: What do other survivors think of this?:grouphug: |
For me, it's more about feeling things than watching them lately. I love the way the sun feels against my skin and the way the breeze tickles my face.

I truly enjoy watching all the animals. It's a peek into their world. On Thursheading to therapy I saw a raccoon hanging out in someone's backyard in the middle of the day. In a subdivision.

flowers, trees, bird songs.
Every day I look at my flowers. I planted a bunch of marigolds from seed this year and impatiens too. I just get lost looking at them and seeing how they thrive outside.
Then there's trees. I can't get enough of their greens and how they thrash in the wind if storms are coming. Trees just facinate me now. Bird songs. All kinds. I know a few of the songs, but not all of them. I really enjoy birds now/ |
I watched this morning the crows feeding from atop the neighbor's fence; neighbors nearly hand feed those wacky birds their breakfast leftovers.
Other than a flock of crows that live up here, I see seagulls and a very few other small birds. Occasionally I can see a hummingbird take a rest on the high telephone wire. Only in recent days have I heard a tiny bit of birdsong from smaller birds which I cannot identify. In the distance I see the ocean dark, and roiling-white, the high waves so thick and wide, it looks from this distance/ perspective more like the arctic to me! It was too cold for me to remain outdoors for long. I miss my sweet Bay walks, the pelicans, the shorebirds, the dolphins ... being warm! |
I never use to noticed the different bird calls until my life was forced to slow down. Now, on my walks, I identify the different types of birds before I usually see them. It's fascinating how much nature has a calming effect on our lives and for years I rarely took notice. We often forget how illness can enrich us in other ways.

Being out in nature always relaxes me, I just sit with my dog and look at the mountains, when there's a slight breeze, sunshine, oh I love it!
Even watching the squirrels play, seeing all the different kinds of birds... |
Great Posts Everyone!
I have been with a kidney infection & kidney stone. So I'm back after 2 weeks of antibiotics that would knock me out.
I have my normal finches and robins everyday. New sightings have been 2 cardinals male & female flocking together, a big really bright blue jay, and a hummingbird! I looked up all spiritual meanings of the sightings and it gives me inspiration, faith, and hope. My parents had seen how I love nature esp birds, they took me to a flea market and bought me 2 parakeets male & female. I love them so much even though we are still working on their trust and emotional in me. They are getting better everyday! They love reggae music! I also love to see my flowers grow that we planted spring of 2013. The various plants and flowers for each season. I remember one thing when I was in my first year of TBI how the birds chirping would hurt my ears and annoy me....now I can tolerate much better. I guess because I consider myself the saying "fragile bird". That's me! I am similar to them emotionally, cannot eat foods w/pesticides etc. My doggy is getting old he does not even bother my parakeets. I really love all the wonderful elements of nature. I would rather do things with nature than computer, tv, phones etc.:grouphug: |
