looking for any advice/info

Hello,
I just found out two days ago that I have a colloid cyst. I am only 16 years old and I must admit I am nervous. I have never actually had any serious medical problems before so this came as a bit of a shock. I was actually getting checked for a concussion when the cyst was found. So I was hoping for any and all advice you guys could give me. From what I have read I am nervous I am going to have to have surgery because I have been showing a lot of the symptoms since about the end of second quarter of school. It is now summer and the headaches have gotten worse and now last all day.

Seeing as I have only had really a day to look into this if you could give me any information you feel is a need to know that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Hello Toast,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

This forum is fairly quiet I'm sorry, but I hope someone familiar with Colloid Cyst will drop by and see your message.

I'm really sorry you're dealing with so much at such a young age.

There may be info. in some of the older posts.
You can do a forum search for keywords.

Hi Toast,

I'm really sorry that someone so young has to deal with this! The good news is that my experience with the surgery is good, so it can be done without you changing at all. And I have no head aches. I only did the endoscopic resection on June 2nd, so it's still early. As you will see on other posts, the major thing is to have a neurosurgeon experienced with colloid cyst.I would add that endoscopic, done by an experienced surgeon, is like a miracle (at least for me). Emory clinic came a lot when I first started googling this.
Best of luck to find the perfect surgeon, and try to keep positive!

:) You'll be just fine, medicine is so advanced these days!

Thanks Lara and Anki!
Lara~
I actually do not have a concussion. I had an injury during a basketball game and was sent to the hospital to get checked for one. I have been looking at some of the older posts and they have helped a lot.

I am so glad to hear that your surgery went well. I wish you the best of luck for your recovery. I have a meeting with a neurosurgeon the 2nd of July to see what cause of action will be taken.

Colloid Cyst

Hello,
I came across you post.
I have been looking for feedback/information and I am able to talk about colloid cysts in the 3rd ventricle.
I had a unexpected reoccurrence and had mine removed for a second time at the beginning of March. You are young to have a colloid cyst. They are very rare with varying symptoms. The treatment is surgery and a likely good outcome. If you would like to know more I am happy to help. I may be able to answer some of the questions you have and understand a little what you are going through. Good luck in the meantime.
