We have our own hard-won expertise at Neurotalk--

--through Mrs. D and Rose, who post at various boards.

Rose is in the process of building a massive B12 website, with exhaustive citations. It's a work in progress, but can be reached at:

There are also a lot of links through the Vitamins/Mineral/Supplements forum here:

also...

Chemo induced neuropathies should try l-carnitine or acetyl-l-carnitine.

B12 does not work alone... you need fish oil, folic acid and B6 to help
with nerve healing from damage due to drugs/radiation/chemo.

There is an RX vitamin called Metanx which has all 3 in it. You would have to
provide your own fish oil.

Thanks, MrsD!

Thanks so much for the chemo induced PN info.

I learn so much from you!

I take the Source Naturals Advanced B12 Complex it has:

Advanced B-12 Complex™ combines the two active, coenzymated forms of vitamin B-12 - methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin (dibencozide) - with folic acid. Vitamin B-12 is required for normal growth, cell reproduction, myelin and nucleoprotein synthesis, and the formation of red blood cells. Coenzyme supplementation bypasses the body's need to synthesize the active forms of vitamin B-12 from cyanocobalamin.*

That takes care of the horrible pain (from surgery) that goes from my outer knee to hip (like thousands of stabbing hot needles). (I do a separate B-complex and fish oil.

I still get the burning feet from chemo even after a couple of years. I will
definitely try the l-carnitine. In fact it has been bothering me worse the past few days (it's not usually constant).
:Thanx:
THANK YOU!!!!!! (Also, my sincere thanks & prayers for everyone who adds information on this board-whether a question or responses! I rarely post, but I read often.)

Kat (followed since the old MGH boards)
