Tooth issues and Lyme Disease
I was sick for 4 years before being properly diagnosed work Lyme Disease. In that time my health deteriorated and so did my dental health. Over the course of 2 years I ended up with 3 root canals and one wisdom tooth extracted along with several other fillings. Terrible. Oddly, each time I had a root canal done my health would deteriorate. I would feel flu like symptoms and complete and utter exhaustion with low grade fever. I found out in December that I have Lyme Disease.
I have one tooth that was root canaled last year and was never comfortable. There's the wisdom tooth, then the one in front, then the tooth. The crown had too much space at the back side and food would get caught behind and under it. When I went in for my 6 month cleaning I complained and they added material to the tooth behind to fill the space which helped a little bit food still got caught. When I went again another 6 months they offered to replace the crown. When they removed it I felt immediate relief. But during the time of wearing the temporary I began to feel discomfort. I figured it was just the temporary. They put on the new permanent and the discomfort continued. Although the permanent feels like a great fit. The pain felt like my gums hurt and the stump under the crown hurt. About 2 weeks later I was in intense pain. I went in and they x rayed and said I had a small abscess at the bottom of the root close to the tooth behind. The pain was felt between the teeth. They taped on the two teeth and they both hurt. They gave me antibiotics. Clindamycin. 300mg 4 times a day. I was so nauseas from the infection, plus had body aches, swolen glands, jaw and temple pain. I had to stop my Lyme medication to take this. During the week my Lyme Disease symptoms all reimerged. I felt absolutely awful. When it was done I switched back to my Lyme medicine but I can't get rid of the nausea. It's been about a month now. I am still nauseas. My tooth is still sensitive and the one behind it is becoming sensitive again. The dentist said that if the antibiotic didn't fix the issue I would have to consider having the tooth behind being root canaled, the original one needing to be some kind of expensive procedure to clean out the infection which may not work. And then extracting it. I'm feeling very frustrated. Plus I have been so sick since this and I feel like my tooth is making me sick because of the Lyme Disease. I was hoping to get some advice. I am so sick right now. Nauseous for a month, migraines daily for the past 2 weeks, having all sorts of scary Lyme symptoms like numbness in my face, head, feet, hands, swelling, joint pains, etc... ever since this tooth. I was doing so well with recovery before this. I'm afraid to touch this tooth. But I need to address it and address it properly. Thanks. |
