RSD.....? now it is Lupus?

Good holiday to all.
I have to ask if any RSD folks have also been diagnoused with Lupus?
I have suffered with RSD for over 20 years now lets add this with the mix!
Be grateful for any info.
God bless us all, Andrea.

Hi Andrea, no I am not aware of any connection, sorry I cannot be more of a help. Have you been diagnosed with Lupus, or you are in the work up phase? Mind if I ask what symptoms prompted concerns of Lupus? Wishing you wellness ~Lottie

Thanks for the reply. I went to the doctor thinking that I had Thrush. A white coating on my tounge and very dry mouth issues. They sent me for more lab work coming back that my ANA's are positive. Talked to the office today and they are also thinking Sjogrens Syndrome.
Waiting for a reply as to conceeding to go to a Reumatologist as that is where they send you for these issues.
I really like my regular doctor and he is willing to work with me.
Just keep praying and hoping for some answers.
Pray you have an easy day and thanks for the reply.
Wishing you wellness also. God bless us all.

Dear Andrea,

I presented with a butterfly rash on my face, joint pains, etc. and received a positive ANA. I was sent to a Rheumatologist for exam. The conclusion was a FALSE positive.

From my understanding, there are MANY false positives on the ANA. It is worth being checked out by a "Rhumie". It would probably be a one time only visit with him unless they discover that you DO have a rheumatology problem. You can still keep your regular doctor. Two heads are better than one in many cases.

Hopeless, sounds like reasonable advice.

There is also a form of lupus called "drug induced lupus"...
This typically does not give elevated ANA...

The list of drugs that causes this grows by the day. Some people are more sensitive to this too.

I have had drug induced lupus reactions to two blood pressure drugs over the years... hydralazine and the ACE inhibitor lisinopril.

http://www.uspharmacist.com/content/...stems/c/32062/

The lists keep changing. Type in your drug(s) names(s) to PubMed with the generic only name and qualifier lupus in the keyword. ACE inhibitors have just been added to the list recently.
This list has captopril on it and is slightly different from the previous link:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/e...cle/000446.htm

People differ and some are just very sensitive to drug therapies.

I have both and it isn't fun! Don't let the positive ana mess with your mind though. My ana was positive several times and it took years to get dx. Please know that a good rheumy will not dx you based on that alone. My drs. Have all told me that there is not a connection between the two.

I've had many positive tests for it over the years, but a positive test really means nothing unless you have a certain number of symptoms (I forget how many). I never had enough symptoms to meet the criteria.

I do have the symptoms and family history of RA. I was diagnosed with sero negative RA, because my RA factor comes back negative. I do meet the criteria for RA and not everyone will have a positive test.
