New here. Back, hip and leg pain for years
Hello. I'm so glad to find this forum. I have had Fibromyalgia for over 20 years and learned to live well with it. In the past 3 years I have been having different pain in my low back, over my right hip and going down both legs. I have had spinal injections, physical therapy (they discharged me again this morning for not progressing) and Multiple X-rays & MRI's. In desperation, I went to a chiropractor who "cracked" my hips. Only they did not make a popping noise so he just kept "jumping" on my hip. It has been very painful ever since. I have seen my own physician 4 times in 2 months, she has referred me to specialists who cannot get me in for another 2 months. I feel desperate to get away from this pain so I can just get a few hours of sleep! -- OK, i feel better now that my whining is out in the open :-)
I'm looking for someone who may have information or help in relieving pain. or at least someone who understands what it is like to live with constant pain? Although i would not wish that on anyone! :grouphug: |

I'd avoid chiropractic treatment, personally it's only ever made it worse for me. I hope you get some answers soon, the only thing worse than being in pain is not knowing why it's happening. Hang tough  |
There are good chiros and not so good.. that one sounds not too good..
:( But there are very good ones out there, you just have to find them..:o Did your x rays /MRIs show any specific issues? You can request the written report , or maybe even the images on a dvd/cd.. You might look for PT or DC that has a low level laser (also called cold laser or soft laser..) The one I went to had one of those and it was great for my pain areas. The chiro I went to was also very gentle & easy with adjusting, and used many PT modalities so it saved me going to PT and to a DC.. I recently went to a new DC for low back pain from a L5 that slips around a bit.. she used flexion/distraction, Gua Sha and added some Kineisio Tape for support. She couldn't get my thoracic spine to pop, but she didn't force anything when trying . I only needed to go 3 times , so far so good. |
Wheat packs
Hi, I keep up to 5 wheat packs in the freezer and I alternate between heat and ice to alleviate the pain as much as I can. Personally I find the cold wheat packs work better for me than the hot ones, but the heat gets the blood flowing in the muscle and the cool soothes the pain. I also take OTC pain relief. If you are not in an established pattern of medication taking that can exacerbate pain. Try to set yourself a routine so that you take the tablets when they are due rather than waiting until the pain strikes or reaches unbearable. These can be OTC melds or prescribed melds, whatever your GP recommends. For me, I take OTC Panamax 2 tablets every 6 hours and this creates a base threshold and 1 x 20mg oxy slow release in the mornings. There are also a number of good gentle stretches you can find that do help, just check them with a physio or GP before embarking on something unknown. My hip pain is referred from L2 & L3 vertebrae. I totally sympathise with you and hope you can find some relief soon.

Too true
Sadly Tripp you are on the money, no one understands until they walk a few moments in our shoes. They try, but it's too hard for them to deal with and you become all talked out because nothing ever changes. The pain doesn't go away and they are surprised when they ask how you are and the answer is the same. I'm not having a good day my pain seems to be spreading and even though I have a remedial massage booked for this afternoon all I want to do is stay put and not have to face anyone. I'm just over this and I can only imagine you feel the same. NT is wonderful, people get us:eek:

Good to meet you. I do talk a lot about it but it does seem to be the same stuff always. My Physiotherapy and Massage recently ended as I am not progressing. There seems no end in sight but it is great to have the support on Neurotalk. |
