Question regarding phone interview...help appreciated!
Hello all! New to this forum and a pleasure to meet you all. I have been reading for a few days and all of your advice has been very helpful.
I had applied for disability and I got a denial letter a few days back saying something about my last insured date and that I didn't have enough work credits. I read up and found out that it is because I have not worked in 8 years and they only allow you to apply 5 years after you stop working. My question is that a couple days after that, I got a letter from my local office from SSI and it says I have a telephone interview. Why would they schedule a telephone interview if I got denied? I am very confused and any insight would be greatly appreciated! |
SSI and SSDI are 2 separate things. To receive SSDI you need to have the work credits. SSI is not based on work credits. I believe it is a set amount.
Hopefully someone with more SSI knowledge will be able to help more. |
