Advice needed

I am 4 months into PCS and 27 years old. My neuro prescribed me notriptyline 25mg for 2 months. It's been 20 days since I have started taking notriptyline and I am experiencing restlessness, increased heartbeat, mild shaking in my body. I went to my PCP today and he told me it's safe to stop taking notryptiline as the dosage is low. I want to continue with it as I feel mentally stable and relaxed after taking it. Also my family has seen mood improvements in me and good sleep after notryptiline. Is it safe to continue after the mentioned side effects? And is it safe to discontinue abruptly if I have to after 20 days ?

Also I have been taking a B12 supplement(Mecobalamin 1.5mg, Alpha Lipoic Acid 100mg, Folic Acid 1.5mg, Pyridoxine HCl 3mg) and cod liver oil capsules since 1 month. But I couldn't take them since 2 days as I was unable to follow up with my doc and ask if I should continue. Is it ok to continue with B12 and cod liver oil capsules more than a month?

I was told the same thing about the nortryptalin... as for why.. have you tried drinking more water to help flush it out?

I would go to your neurologist - not your PCP - and discuss these new symptoms.

The ones you are describing sound like panic attacks. They sound like the kind I had when I would drive, and I got a prescription for propanolol that was quick acting. I didn't need to take it for very long and it helped.

If nortyrptiline (sp?) is working for sleep and mood than stay on it-but do discuss it with a neurologist first! it is a very low dosage, 25mg. Sleep is so key to healing and you are still in the early stages of your recovery.

Best of luck!

The B-12 supplement is fine, in fact, very good. Same for the cod liver oil. I suggest you consider taking them for the long term although there are other fish oils that are just as good if not better.
