News Stories Yesterday
FYI in case anyone doesn't know you can setup a google alert to send you an email notification with links whenever there are news stories with reference to myasthenia gravis - it isnt often and not always informative (sometimes reference to obituaries) but yesterday there were 3! Often the stories are too technical for me but I still like to get them. the 2nd link about stem cell seems like most encouraging thing I have seen yet (although what do I know?)

The middle link talks about monoclonal antibodies that target specific cells for destruction. Rituxan is a monoclonal antibody and it has proven to work very well for myasthenia gravis and Lambert Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome (LEMS). It targets the B cells which are thought to be responsible for manufacturing the attacking antibodies in these two diseases. I had it in December and am hoping to soon get it again.

Thanks, Steph. Any information on MG is helpful.
Now if only they could "collaborate" on diagnosing MG patients promptly and treating MG patients well during an exacerbation or crisis. ;) The third article/video is from this Institute in France, which also deals with CMS. http://www.institut-myologie.org/ Annie |
