diagnosis/symptoms
curious if anyone has ever been diagnosed with rsd and later found out it was not rsd but actually something else causing similar symptoms...? or even something else contributing to rsd that needed its own separate treatment?
thanks!! |

Early on in my diagnosis, I kept coming across research where people had entrapped nerves causing the RSD symptoms, where surgery to release them spontaneously resolved most symptoms. One medical researcher swore up and down that most (70%+) cases of RSD were caused by nerve entrapment. Thought it was frickin' scary and way risky to explore the surgery route at the exact site of origination though. Especially since surgery was the RSD trigger for me. And I've read way more case studies and anecdotal reports of further surgery doing the opposite. But I don't disagree that there are probably a fair number of cases out there where nerve entrapment is the primary initiatior - most likely cases that resulted from a significant original trauma like surgery or a severe sprain. |
Hi
I am in line with what Vision said. Meaning I have heard things re: nerves or entrapment etc. being the cause and not necessarily RSD. Re: nerve issues as a cause, you may want to check out Lee Dellon. Fascinating......really. http://www.dellon.com/rsd-foot-pain.html http://www.dellon.com/ Quote:

There once was a regular NT member who had many RSD symptoms for years and had foot surgery to release a nerve and all the symptoms went away once the correct nerve was released. One of my wife's previous doctors thought she had a trapped nerve in her wrist cause her RSD symptoms. His method of finding out sounded too intrusive for my wife, also he made the comment that RSD does not spread so that ended that train of thought.

thank you for your input! do you know how they "released" the nerve? was it tarsal tunnel surgery? side effects? hope you don't mind me asking. I thought I read something somewhere else about *removing* nerves and that raises a lot of questions and concerns to me.

I will review your link because after all, education is the only way we can battle rsd. Recently my new ortho dr told me ,just by looking at me he is thinking I was misdiagnosed by five dr. Do you think five dr are going to made same mistake? Well he didn't review my files ,I'm early not taking his opinion right now seriously unless he really see my files, but obviously was really upset by he comment and also disappointed as well. I really hope rsd want part of my life but had surgeries and treatments for nothing ,I don't think five different dr who don't even know each other's are going to make that mistake. I will wait and see what he said after reviewing my records,by asking me to walk few steps and move my hands and was able to do it,doesn't means he already know my whole case, but yes dr many times made mistakes but this new dr mistake is ,talk without knowing. Hope you guys a day full of relief and less pain!!!!!!gentle and soft hugs,Jesika :grouphug::grouphug: |
