Restless Leg Syndrome?

My sleep is beyond terrible, as i'm falling asleep every night I get a weird shaking feeling in my body, the only thing that stops it is to get out of bed,

Now something else is happening and that is my legs get, it's so hard to describe, the feeling where I have to constantly move them, it's just an awful sensation in my legs, the other night I was fighting it for hours and hours, only got an hour's sleep.

Does anyone know what causes this and how to stop it please?

Did have severe concussion last year and have a lot of cognitive problems, could this be the cause? :grouphug:

It's hard to say if it's RLS but your description sounds the same as how my legs feel when my RLS is playing up. I don't get the shaky feeling that you described though.

I'm not sure if you take medications but some medications can cause this too.

There are a lot of posts regarding restless leg syndrome in
Movement Disorders Forum
Movement Disorders Including essential tremor, dystonia and Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS).

Here's a description and fact sheet from NIH/NINDS

are you taking something to alleviate it sitke? I know you have an upcoming neuro appointment. Be VERY persistent that you need help now with the tremors and restless legs. Don't make me have to come out there and go with you, wherever there is lol. be adamant!!

ditto what markneil said.

Also, Sitke, please don't forget to mention to your doctor those episodes of 'lost time' or amnesia that you've been experiencing. Very important.

Make a list! ;)

Thanks guys,

Mark, wish you could come with me! lol

For sure I'll have to make a list, always forget to mention something.

See neuro on the 9th.

Actually spoke with a massage therapist about the tremors and she thought it might me PTSD?

Hope everyone is ok today. :grouphug:

although i don't really believe that it is ptsd, there IS a medication that will help you just as gabapentin helped me. I promise. from what my current doctor told me, certain neurons and neural pathways can become easily excited after head injury and the right medication will calm this down and do away with the tremors.

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Hi-

When I was having RLS, I found that taking 1 capsule 600 mg of alpha lipoic acid every day (5 yrs. later, I still take it with an ok from my neurologist. I think it is keeping me in fairly good shape regarding the progression of neuropathy too.

Dedeb

stopped it.
