Volteran Gel for Burning and Some Aches
All,
I have symptoms closer to Erythromelalgia than SFN in the sense I have tremendous redness/inflammatory response on the tops of my feet if I am not on Gabapentin. I also get aches in both of my feet, but not necessarily in the joints. Lidoderm patches work well, and I am interesting in knowing more about Voltran Gel, but found few folks posting about it. Any ideas if this might work in, pros, cons, etc. |
Hi Dac
I have serious PN and use Voltaren. Can't say lately if it really helps or not. It did when the symptoms were mild, but not so much now that it is strong pain. It is worth a try as there are no side effects that I could detect. I wish you all the best. ginnie

Many of the compounded pain creams
Used here by some posters have an NSAID In their recipes. The only downside to Voltaren gel is The risk of liver damage with long term Use or use over large areas long term. There are studies that warn of this. |
There is a componant in voltaren that is responsible for a decline in the vulture population in India - as much as 99%.
Ah, diclofenac, that's the one. Quote:

question?
So if your kidneys are already not quite right, should the doc. be prescribing me volteran???? am not interested in real kidney damage. ginnie:hug:

In humans NSAIDs can cause liver and/or
Kidney damage. Diclofenac as a topical agent has been Shown to be liver toxic in some patients. Just Google "diclofenac liver toxicity " To find more. It was thought that topical Use would be safer, but post marketing Events prove otherwise. A lot depends on the amount applied on the body and length of time used. Long term use should be checked medically by doctors with liver and kidney tests. |
Oh Boy MrsD
Well I was taken off all meds. like that, as I was showing some elevation in one of the kidney tests. I won't take it, as I do apply liberally I suppose. Will bring to my docs. attn. Medicine is sure a complicated thing. thanks, ginnie

You can have you doctor rewrite the
Recipe next time with the NSAID Removed. It would be interesting to see if the new recipe works as well, as the old one. |
