VP and LP Shuntng

the doctor could never get the setting right. It just would not work. It over drained bad. I got a new doctor in Miami Florida to take the LP Shunt out and put in a VP shun this Feburary. I ended up in the er in June with horrible head pain and eye pain. The shunt was over draining and sucking my brain through the shunt causing my brain to bleed where the shunt had collapsed. The doctor replaced the VP shunt and added a LP shunt. In July I ended back up in the er with severe head pain. It felt like a knife stabbing me in my head. Four days later my VP shunt was removed and the pan was gone. Now In August my nad headaches and eye pain is back. I am miserable and the soctors can't seem to get it right. I do not know what to do. Any suggestions?

VP shunt Replacement

Hello everyone,

I am a 20 year old woman and have had a vp shunt since birth due to hydrocephalus and I recently went to a neurosurgeon for headaches and pain in my head. He told me that my shunt is fractured behind my right ear. I am due for surgery on the second. Is there anything I need to know before the surgery? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
