At the MS clinic

So I went to my MS center appointment. And I complained my little heart out. I had my usual symptoms, and some new ones. I reminded him that I was diagnosed when I was already in Secondary Progressive MS. Therefore I had never really taken any MS drugs except LDN. I suggested we try something new.

He told me that there is no treatment for SPMS. He said that he could give me something for the pain, but that there is nothing more that can be done.

Sigh.

He is, of course, correct. He did order an MRI for me because the pain on the right side of my head is getting worse, and at least I’ll have the peace of mind that I don’t have a brain tumor or something.

Marion, tell DDoc, "well you need to get busy and find something then". I'm sick of
hearing that and I don't believe it to be true. There is something out there. S/he
and their cohorts just haven't found it yet.

I want to be remyelonated (sp). NOW!!:D

What do we want? Myelin!

When do we want it? NOW!

After your post I did a quick search on myelin,, never really considered the properties of it, despite research on MS, but now I wonder why the neuro is so set on my quitting smoking when nicotine might actually assist myelin repair. Of course that's not considering the immunosuppressants and tar from cigarettes.

Conspiracy?

But also rather surprised that most doctors encourage a low cholesterol diet even if ones cholesterol is normal, but lipids (cholesterol) makes up a large portion of the components for myelin sheathes. And yet every MS diet also recommends reducing fats and cholesterol.....

I've always had low cholesterol, total doesn't even come to 100 regardless of diet... Could my body be stealing it from my brain??

Starz I quit a 40 year smoking habit about 5/6 yrs ago. I took up vaping E-cigs w/nicotine,
because I knew the tobbaco was bad for my health, but Nicotine is neuroprotective. Love it:D.

That was kinda my plan for quitting was switching to vap. Only I was going to go nicotine free, since my habit stems from fixation over nicotine, but I guess I can keep some to feed the brain :D
