Forum error....

I made a mistake...I tried to copy and paste the written language of a emoticon. It locked me out of the forums. I wrote to several of you and don't know if Mrs D got me back onsite or what .....or maybe after a period of time the site just lets you back on. Or maybe it was coincidence and I did not cause this error, maybe the forums were down for a short period?
I am grateful to be back on line here!

Well, I'm glad you won't be known as the woman who destroyed NT. :D

Bizi,

I've been noticcing the forums have been getting very slow lately. Today especially, it is like pulling teeth to load a page. The forum smilie page wouldn't even finish... it was going in hiccups.

I think there may be some problems going on. I was getting ready to post a thread to ask if anyone else had noticed slowness. Have you, perchance?

As to the lockout, I seriously doubt you could have caused that. At most, you could get locked out if you type your password wrong several times in a row. But not by pasting a bad image code. It would have to be a bad, BADDD image code, and I mean malicious, like with an embedded virus, LOL! :D If you typed :madd: or something, it just would just show the text in the post, instead of the image. Same with an incorrect link.

yes waves that was where it happened. The smiley page wouldn't finish so I just looked thru the words and found dancing chili that is what I wanted to post. so I copy and pasted it and that is when I got the error and was locked out! I sent you the error message to your email if you have not checked your account yet. The message made me feel bad.

Awww, Bizi, that is not your fault!!!!

I just looked at it...

It is reporting a type of communication error -- a technical problem. There may be some data corruption causing it, or other things, but it is NOT your fault!

I am going to try and repro it (do what you did, and see it happns to me) so, if I don't post back in a few mins I may be locked out. But it might be a glitch.

I am sorry the message got to you that way. It does sound intimidating! :hug::hug:

Testing to see if I can cut/paste smilies and get forbidden errors, lol....

:Wheel:

edited to add that the smilie page is loading at the moment, and I didn't get locked out.

I kind of think that error has nothing to do with the user action of cutting/pasting anything. It's network level.

The forum is still slow.

Not I ... In fact I am on vacation with
an iPhone and we lost our ATT tower coverage
twice already (roaming and all).

So when this slowdown happened I thought
It was an ATT problem.

DocJohn has posted on forum feedback
That the server issue here has been fixed.

I tried to reply last night here, but the submit page never loaded so I just gave up & logged off..

It was a denial of service attack on the servers - nothing at the member/user level.

The spotty slowness could be due to some ongoing server maintenance or cleaning up after the server attack..

Now the pages are loading normal once in awhile, but still slow sometimes for me.
