Is it dental amalgams that are making me ill.
Mine is more of a question - about 2 months ago I was convinced by my sister to try some colloidial minerals (these contain 72 minerals) after about 3 days taking these I started getting pains in my hands and feet, which continued and by the end of the day my muscles would be so tense I wanted to screem. I stopped taking these after about 3 weeks. Then a week later I started getting sensations in my left foot and left hand. This then progressed into pains and muscle spasms that spread all over my legs and arms. I also got a lot of lower back pain, and blurred vision. I was told that I needed to be checked for MS and eventually after a month of waiting (Incredibly concerned as I'm a female 40 years old) I had an MRI on my brain and spinal cord and was told by the neurologist that there was nothing wrong and that it was extreme anxiety. I still felt very rough and didn't seem to be getting better - about a week after that I went to my sisters doctor and he asked to if I had thought about copper poisoning - I had a copper IUD fitted - which we then removed and I started feeling better. I googled my symptoms and it came up with amalgam poisoning. I had five amalgams removed from my right side and experienced servere burning on the soles of my feet which has only just gone away in the past week (that was three weeks ago) But I am left now with a slight lazy finger on my left side and the same with one of my toes on the left side. What do you think??? My husband thinks I'm mad I forgot to mention I have/had around 11 amalgams as well as the metal backed crowns in my mouth. Some of the amalgams have been there for 25 years and I remember the dentist saying when I had them put in that I had a lot of saliva in my mouth.

Hi and welcome to NeuroTalk LEEANN :)
I have also copied your post over to our dental forum for some expert as well as experiential input from the members there Here is the link to it there http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=20856 I actually do have concerns as well as some saved research, anecdotal and other info on why it isnt a good idea to have mercury and other heavy metal amalgams in our mouths. Yes, there is a lot of hysteria on the subject, and some unethical dentists who may make a lot of $ by doing the amalgam removal and replacement with metal free ones....BUT, there IS also enough information available for me to firmly believe that metals, especially heavy metals, are not a good idea in our mouths. However, for many of us, it was the standard procedure and so we now do the best we can to lessen the impact. There are herbal supplements, like chlorella, that "mop up" mercury and there are also other ways to boost ones system to lessen the impact of things that one is sensitive to, eg the metal amalgams When having them removed, one needs to really have the immune system boosted, and do correct detox from the metals that do inevitably leech into our bodies. my son has Tourette syndrome and ANY metal in his mouth (yes, including eating utensils) seems to trigger tics for him. He also sees a special dentist who accommodates this sensitivity to metal ps if I were to believe everything on quackwatch, I would likely still be very ill from the pesticide poisoning I suffered from, when many doctors told me it was "all in my head" or "stress" etc !! Took one on the ball practitioner of alternative medicine to recognize exactly what was wrong...traced my history and my illness coincided with a trip to Captiva Island when I was caught in a malathion crop sprayers exude while walking on the beach early one morning. Some of the treatments etc and advice from docs that have helped my son go from severe to mild TS are also dissed on quackwatch, so, where they may be spot on in some areas, I dont agree with all they claim as quackery.:winky: another ps. also re the colloidal minerals, with supplements as with meds, if one is taking something that one's system doesnt need or tolerate, then reactions can occur. Always best to work with a good practitioner on even things like that. I used liquid colloidal silver, along with a variety of other supplements and treatments, during my pesticide detox and I know for a fact the colloidal silver, used short term and for the period recommended by my Integrative Doctor, was immensely helpful to me. There are however some people, eg those with autoimmune issues, who likely should not take it |
