cervical fusion recovery question

It's about two months since I had a cervical fusion with a plate and screws. I had pretty bad spinal cord compression that amongst many other symptoms also caused neuropathy in my hands and feet. Some things have gotten better and some days my fingers and toes feel pretty good.
I am out of the neck brace and probably started doing to much to soon. Lately some of the symptoms I had prior to surgery have returned.
The back of my neck hurts a lot, does anyone know if this neck pain is normal?
Thanks in advance for any input.

It depends on whether you had anterior or posterior surgery. Posterior surgery is notorious for neck pain afterwards, due to all the muscles that are dissected to get deep inside to the vertebrae from the back (posterior) side.

It was anterior. I see the surgeon at the end of this month and now I'm getting a little more nervous. One of the things that happened to me with the compression was difficulty walking. Having a lot of pain again in the left leg, both legs feel kind of weak. Neck still hurts as well. This sure has been a rough year so far.
