Home after thymectomy
Had my thymectomy on Wednesday morning, came home late Thursday evening. Having a lot of help from our parents to watch our kids, so my family is taking good care of me.
Three incision sites, plus a chest tube. Surgeon said there wasn't that much thymus tissue, but what was there presented with "nodules, and some strange branching arms" that he hadn't seen before...so now we wait to see what pathology report indicates about that. Other than being fatigued I feel pretty good. No residual pain, just a little irritation with the incision sites. Actually stopped taking all pain meds by Friday morning since most of the pain was caused by the exceptionally LONG chest tube and it all went away as soon as that came out. Now just wait and see if it was all worth it...Oh, did I mention I have very little patience for "wait and see" games? |
Maybe you had little aliens hatching in your chest. ;)
That's great that you're back home and starting to heal and that you have such a great family to take care of things for you. Try to sleep as much as possible, because that'll help you to heal. I hope you will go into a remission. I wish that for all MGers. Annie |
I had my thymectomy on 4-21-14...The worst part of it was the chest tube for me ...I instantly felt much better after the surgery...The day before I could only walk 500 ft they day after surgery I walked 1500 ft....Good Luck I hope you continue to recover!!!
