Fluoxetine AKA Prozac??

This was mentioned in another thread but I didn't want to hijack it. Does anybody know if this drug is good or bad for MG?

Celeste, Well, one of its potential side effects is severe weakness.

This channelopathy stuff is rather complex. But these articles might help, although they don't exactly answer your question. ;)

If you don't have a sodium channel that stays open, then you don't need to try to shut it. So, if you do use fluoxetine which helps to regulate it, there might be potential muscle issues. Seems fairly logical, eh?

Cute little animations about the sodium channel.

And this has multiple videos about channels.

I take 20mg. Fluoxetine daily. It doesn't seem to affect my MG.

mom2mba, I'm glad it works for you, with no side effects.

100,000+ people wouldn't die every year from drugs if we all reacted the same way. And most people don't take the time to grab a magnifying glass to read the prescribing information.

Do you take it, Celeste? Any side effects?

I take 40 mg a day. I think that it has made it hard to lose weight. I stopped it for a week thinking that it might be making me tired, but I got much worse as far as being tired and feeling wilted, so I started it back.
