Ketamine Compound Cream
 

Hi there...

So I finally got my hands on a ketamine compound cream. It has 5 or 6 meds in it (sorry the list of meds is down stairs.. that's just too far right now :rolleyes:) with the main ingredient being ketamine. So far I only feel sticky and tired/sleepy.

My questions is: did you get immediate relief? Is this your original site?

I am using the cream on an area of spread. This is not my original site. I am using the cream on my arms. CRPS started for me in my right foot/leg. It's everywhere now.

Nope, I did not get immediate relief it works better the longer you use it. Keep in mind not to use it at the same time as lidoderm patches but, do please use them together just on the alternating hours. I would also recommend using it on your back where your original CRPS site, if you can handle rubbing it in there. Don't give up if you don't get immediate relief... it's the combination of things or "coctail" of things that help keep us more comfortable.

Thank you T! I Didn't think to rub it on my back.. duh..lol, that makes sense. Yes, I will give that a go. Also, thanks for the info on the patches. I did not know that. Again, makes sense. I wonder why it takes a while to start working? Any ideas?

YES! the stickiest crap ever! The first day I got this stuff all over everything! Sheesh!! Thank goodness it seems to wash out and clean up easy. Then I decided to were something with sleeves. As not to destroy everything I own and be like some cartoon.. knowing where I've been.. just look for the white smear. :wink:

My pain Dr prescribed a compound Ketamine lotion for me as well for my CRPS for my right foot,ankle, leg and hip, here is what he had put in mine...

ketamine 10%
gabapentin 6%
diclofenac 3%
baclofen 2%
cyclobenzaprine 2%
lidocaine 2%
q.s. lipoderm

I also found that it took repeated usage to feel some benefit.

To increase that, I started using medical grade DMSO with the Ketamine lotion to help with the pain and swelling. Works quite well, but you have to make sure you find pure MEDICAL grade DMSO.( I found mine thru a website in canada ...http://www.life-choice.net/) I used to use DMSO on my horses for leg injuries and such, now the tables have turned.

The Ketamine lotion isn't a wonder cure, but it might give some relief over time and if used with the correct DMSO it might provide a bit more relief. The DMSO also makes the lotion absorb into the skin better, leaving your a bit less sticky!

Can you add something to DMSO gel to make it smell a little better?
 

Hi everyone,
I am New here and trying to learn more. I Live outside of Philadelphia and waited over 3 yrs to see Dr. Schwartzman who retired during that time. I think I am in good hands at Drexel U and and so hoping for some pain relief. It started in 1995 with fibromyalgia, a bad fall down the stairs, and then a bad knee replacement in 2011.
So, any suggestions on making the DMSO gel smell better? It does work.

Welcome - sorry you are here but glad you found us!

I would recommend adding a drop or two of essential oil by blending it before you apply it. I've done this with my compounded cream and it seems to make it easier to apply as well as it increases the viscosity. Find one or two you like the smell of and give it a go.. :)

Has anyone had a positive tilt table test?

I am beginning to learn my way around and I kept looking for my question and finally found it. I will get the hang of it!
Anyway…..I had a tilt table test last week in Philadelphia and I became very nauseated and passed out (they put nitro under your tongue). The cardiologist said this is sometimes seen in CRPS patients. Anyone else have this test (it was awful!)?
In the last 6 weeks I have had an MRI of my back, lots of blood work, a neuropsych evaluation, the tilt table test, an upcoming Quantitative Sensory Test, and finally a skin biopsy in October for small fiber neuropathy.
They are considering inpatient ketamine so a lot of testing is required. I believe the neurologist is trying to determine if I should have IVIG, IV Ketamine, or Plasmopharesis. Some journey and I am so hoping that they can figure this all out because no one has EVER put it all together until I went to Drexel University. You feel you are on a merry-go-round that isn't fun.
My history is fibromyalgia, then neurological lyme, terrible dental procedures, a a severe fall down the stairs, then a total knee replacement that never got better.
