Difficulty swallowing and constant feeling of something stuck in lower throat

I am 6 months into PCS. I was trying to learn to live with the symptoms I have till now and I felt something was going on with my swallowing. I have this constant feeling of something stuck in my lower throat. I burp a lot and feel the food moving down the pipe after burping. It may be a neurological problem but I suspect some kind of neck injury/sore throat if not neurological.

I had this feeling in the beginning days and weeks following the injury and then it went away completely until I started brisk walking a week ago and caught a sore throat due to rapid breathing and this feeling came back again. The throat feels a bit sore and dull pain with no cough or drainage whatsoever. I am confused and this has become messy with so many possibilities. Anyone have or had this ? Any improvements ?

Its not due to anxiety for sure.

I have been concussed for about a year and an half, and I have similar symptoms. Although anxious thoughts sometimes make it worse, I have trouble swallowing. I also seem so have liquid go "down the wrong tube" more frequently than before the injury. After I try to cough up the water, my throat does seem to hurt for a little while. After my MRI I was diagnosed with whiplash. Do you have any tension in your neck or shoulders? Maybe it is neurological, but it definitely could be due to your spine/neck area. My whiplash is getting better, but just like a concussion, it takes time. I'll pray that you will heal soon.

As Josh said, this sounds like a neck issue. I have had a similar problem from a neck injury/strain. It is often very hard to diagnose and treat because the injury does not show up on imaging. A NUCCA pr Atlas Orthogonal chiro may be able to help. Keep in mind that all chiros are different. It may take some searching to find a good one.

The most important issue is learning good neck posture disciplines so the injury can heal. It takes time to see improvements. Just one lazy period of sleeping with your head twisted can undo weeks of healing.

I had that sensation with neck muscle spasms it caused my top rib to be pulled up , you might ask for some expert PT that can check it & do a top rib mobilization if needed.

If your neck feels tight or strained I would really suggest trying it.

I had those same issues - food getting stuck in throat, choking on water. I also snored when I was sleeping and snorted when I laughed (neither of these things did I ever do prior to my injury ). I did have alot of neck pain and stiffness during that time.

All of these symptoms disappeared a few months ago. I have had a stressful summer with alot of other symptoms worsening - but these particular issues have not come back.

I have been paying close attention to my neck (thank you MarkinIdaho for all of your advice on neck posture!) and I do beleive that all of these issues were related.
