CE exam results

I recently took a CE exam that included IQ and Memory Scale test, why is it so hard for me to get a copy of the results?

You can call your local office and request an appointment to review your entire file. The tests should be in there. They even allow you to make copies for free.

This is highly recommended anytime you have an ALJ hearing scheduled.

So, the ODAR and Local Social Security office have same test results?

There is only one copy of your file. It is shipped to various locations as needed. The test results should be in the file, but things are misplaced all the time, so there is no guarantee that it will be there already or even be added by your hearing date--which is why it's so important for you and/or your attorney to go through it very carefully. (You can bring someone to help you make copies.)

When I made an appointment to view mine, it was already at my hearing location, so I had to travel to it. Had it not been so close in time to the hearing, I might have been able to have viewed it at my local office.

If the only thing you plan to review is a few specific test results, then send a letter to your attorney asking for a copy--he should have it, or else he can obtain it for you.

Oddly enough they told me, that because it's mental they can't send or discuss it with me, it's about me, but I can't know. What if it was a cancer test?

That applies to psych tests because they worry how you'll react (they're worried about liability), so you're supposed to go over the test results with your doc. You are entitled to review your SS file though, so...

So, would my local social security office have these test results, if so, I would love to stop in and see them, I personally believe that this test is the missing link. This was the only test they wanted, the only thing that worries me, even though I tried my hardest, I failed this test miserably.

Hi Rayandnay,

Different areas of the country handle claims for disability differently. Most have gone to digital files. If you have an attorney, he/she can get your entire file via computer within 24 hours usually and then your attorney can email the file directly to you. You never need to leave your home or even make a phone call. You can send your attorney an email requesting that he provide you with an up to date copy of your digital claim and you can review it yourself on your own computer. Of course, this is only if your area of the country has gone to digital claim files.

Hope this helps you.

For some reason they say they can't do that, see LitLove's earlier response

By "they" do you mean SS or B&B? I'm guessing B&B.

They can deny you the test results, but I don't think they can legally deny you your SSDI file. I'd make the request in writing.

I was approved long before digital files were an option. I'm guessing this will include audio recordings of your previous ALJ hearings. They were available in the olden days but you had to ask for them specifically. ;)

http://www.ssa.gov/appeals/odar_pubs/70-10281.pdf It addresses your right to view your file under the ALJ Hearing section.
