Tests

QSART negative.
Nerve conduction negative.
MRI brain and MRI spine negative (according to doctors).
All labs negative.

numbness/tingling/now nerve pain started 2 months ago.

Could I be too early for nerve damage?

Thank you.

Not sure if QSART would show anything but if you have small fiber neuropathy those other test will all be normal. If your doctor will go for it request a skin biopsy. That's how my neuro diagnosed me.

the emg/ncs could definitely be negative if there is not enough nerve damage yet to register in either velocity or amplitude.

I wonder if the QSART could also be?

Could a skin biopsy also be?

My symptoms started about 9 weeks ago.

TIA

Hi Baba
I was Dx with small fiber neuropathy by punch skin biopsy 2 yrs ago. All of my tests including 2 NCS/EMG, 2 MRI's brain and spine were normal. All of my blood tests keep coming back normal. Mine beast is idiopathic. (the worst kind Im beginning to believe because they can not find a cause, no cause no treatment, just drugs!) . Mine started with tingling in lower calves and burning under my feet, It has since progressed to my whole body. (arms, legs, hands, fingers, torso) I get bad buzzing, pins and needles, bad burning, etc...I'm still searching for answers..Good luck to you! Keep us posted....

I am trying to see if I am too early for skin biopsy.

How long did you have symptoms before biopsy confirmation?

[QUOTE=baba222;1101176]I am trying to see if I am too early for skin biopsy.

My symptoms started in early (Feb) 2011. (they came out of the blue, I always ate a healthy diet and exercised). I went to PC , he did blood work ,at that time I was hoping it was something easy or stupid like a vitamin deficiency.. he sent me to a Neurologist. By August 2012 my symptoms had become frequent and unbearable. (my efffnn Neurologist tried telling me it was anxiety , or all in my head). He finally decided to do the biopsy in Oct 2012 . That's when I found out how serious my "condition" was, my life changed and I have not been the same since. :(
