Finally took my trip to Italy

Hi all,
I haven't been posting much but checking in often to see how everyone is doing. Some of you may remember that I had to cancel a planned trip to Italy last May when I got my diagnosis. I am happy to say that I just got back from 3 1/2 weeks traveling around Italy and had a great time.
I was on a pilgrimage to Rome and several monasteries in Umbria and Tuscany. I managed climbing stairs and navigating hilly cobblestone town streets that seemed to be everywhere. I had a rough day here and there but was able to do everything I wanted. The cooler weather there was awesome.

I had been having trouble breathing the last few months in the horrible Florida summer weather. I had to have a full cardiac work up and PFT's before I could go. The tests were ok so my doctor felt the heat/humidity was making my breathing muscles weak. I had gotten a new puppy at the end of June and was taking her out every hour or two. He thought getting out of Florida would help me. I am grateful to be able to feel somewhat normal again and do something I love

Wishing you all more good days, hang on to those dreams and aspirations.
Sandy:hug:

Sandy,

Nice pictures. I didn't know you know the Pope. I hope you put a good word in for us. :)

Here is a quick link to your album, to make it easier for the others to find:

Sandy, I am so glad for you, but I am also so jealous. I have not had a vacation in a long time. I did not know how I could manage the walking. But I was talking to my daughter yesterday and said we should go to Scotland & England this summer, It may be my last chance at a vacation with her. She goes to college soon. I think I would do better with my breathing in a cooler environment.

It frightens me to think how I will manage the walking but I think I need the break no matter the risk.

Thank for the incentive

I was not doing well in the Florida heat/humidity prior to my trip. I was really not sure how well I would do but decided to "go for it". My husband was prepared to help me as much as possible. I took a cane, my O2 monitor and extra mestinon. I am so glad I went, the cool weather was great. Now that I am back in Florida, I am not doing so well. It was totally worth it. Hope you decide to go
