Atlas Orthogonal - cautiously optimistic
A while back someone spoke of Atlas Orthogonal (AO) treatment - thanks to whoever that was. I am trying it and am cautiously optimistic..
As with most therapies - I always expect to get back to my old self. That did NOT happen. However - with the many symptoms that I have - there was one that it did help. Whenever I walked too long or when I was in the car - I had a terrible pain as though my head was perched on the tip of a knife. My doctor sent me for X-rays - said the curvature was off - but that could be normal for me since the rad report said "nothing remarkable". WRONG! - I went for the AO treatment - my C1 and C2 were out of alignment by 21 degrees. I had the treatment and am starting to lose that particular pain. It has been out for 1.5 years - so sometimes it slips out again -pain comes back - after the treatment - no pain. I am hoping that continuing with this treatment - everything will stay in place for good. It does NOT help my other headaches or fog. One pain at a time:) Thanks again to whoever brought this to my attention. GB |
GandB,
Now, it will be very important for you to establish good head and neck posture disciplines. Your neck needs to heal without further trauma. Often, just sleeping with the head and neck in a bad position is traumatic and prevents proper healing. Icing after a treatment will also help. It takes months of discipline for the ligaments to heal enough to support the proper C-1 and C-2 position. Learning to sleep flat on your back can be helpful. I sleep flat on my back with a pillow curled up to support my head from tipping off to the side. Hope this helps. It took me quite some time to get sustained healing. My best to you. |
It took about 4-6 months of continuous AO adjustments to get my neck to stop bothering me, so be consistent, listen to the chiro, and be patient.
