epileptic seizures mystery at 16 month old baby
3 months ago, at 14 months old, my daughter's body temperature started to heat up and continued with no changes. After few test Infectious Mono-mononucleosis was diagnosed. 1-2 weeks after disease started, epileptic seizures showed up (grand mal). Seizures included tonic posture of both hands. Seizures worsened and reached for a minute with the automatism of both hands (but starting on the left) and the movement of the lips. Current Frequency, a hundred a day. Further, in some cases, head and eye deviation to the right. Sometimes, also fluttering eyelids.
At some point, a few white, brown-yellow spots showed up on her right shoulder skin. Dr. said it might fit to Pigmented nevus. Recently there is hypertrichosis in the groin area and underarms. For now, after almost every test and treatments, epileptic seizures steel going and getting worse. There is nothing unusual at EEG, ct, x-ray or all other test she had. We changed the hospital 3 weeks ago but still there is no answer. Any help would be appreciated. Also of you know other places I can post this that might be more accurate. Thank you so much. |
Hi Andy
I am so sorry this baby is having these seizures. My daughter Shannon, had her first one the day she came home from the hospital. Shannon spent much of her first two years at Barns Childrens hospital in St. Louis. They NEVER did really find out what was wrong, but classified it is MBD. Minimal brain Damage.
She was special ed during her life, and grew out of all seizures after those first two years. She is fine now, married with two kids of her own. I think that hospital was the very best in dealing with my daughter. I would go there again, as they did the very best they could in dealing wither her seizures. I hope you find the best place to help her recover. ginnie:hug::grouphug: |
