Citalopram/sleep/dreaming/sleep tracking

I don't post on here often, there's almost too much to say and writing posts on here takes it out of me a bit.

But I was started on citalopram about 6 weeks ago as I had sunk to a very low point and have been struggling with sleep and dreaming since then.

Every night I have very restless sleep and vivid, very emotional dreams what feels like all night.

I wake feeling exhausted, with the emotions of the dreams still affecting me (like if someone did something bad to you in a dream and you still feel angry at them when awake).

Specifically, I'm having extremely angry dreams. Usually I totally lose it with someone in my dream, just go mad yelling at them.
In person I never lose my temper, I've maybe lost my temper with someone twice in the last 5 years.

Of course, because I'm tired, my cognitive issues are worse, word finding, explaining things, making decisions etc etc.

I imagine it's as simple as being angry at my situation and this coming out in my dreams, but I was wondering whether anyone else is having similar experiences?

When I am not sleeping well, I get run down and get ill easily, also get cold sores which make me feel even worse.
Going to see my GP next week to go over it all, as I'm struggling.

Also, wondering if anyone has a Fit Bit? It's a pedometer but also measures sleep through it's accelerometer.
I've been able to look at my sleep pattern, how restless/interrupted my sleep is, how many hours and minutes of actual sleep I got, it's really interesting.

I'd be very interested to compare sleep patterns with someone else with PCS

i cant believe that we have the same symptoms. terrifying emotional dreams upon waking. I also get fast heartbeat and tremors and burning upon waking. terrible way to start the day. The emotions of the dream stay with me for about an hour or so. crazy.
they put me on ambien and Neurontin which helps a little, but I wish I would just wake up like I used to.

There is a sleep thread on this forum somewhere, insomnia is pretty common judging from the posts. In the early phase of my PCS I used to wake up sweating and raised pulse, not sure whether it was the diphenhydramine or valerian I was taking at the time, but I don't get it now. I also had some bad dreams but they have passed since coming off OTC meds. Could be a coincidence. The more my symptoms subside the worse my sleep is getting - go figure!

@markneil1212 don't you build up a tolerance to zolpidem eventually?

I took citalopram for more than a year, I had to quit taking it, because I could not sleep and I had weird dreams.
