going insane

as i type i am finishing my bowl of banana nut crunch. i ate dinner 3 hours ago and then i had a container of edy's dibs (28 grams of fat). i don't know what i am going to do with myself. i can't stop (*&^$@%$@ EATING! my body is so terribly broken out from my blocks and i am just swollen and puffy. i just feel ravenous.

i skipped my block today. told them i was sick. i can't take it anymore. i don't want to take my medicine either. i was 125 pounds when all of this started. i am 150 now. i hit 158 a couple of weeks ago and then lost 10 pounds. now i'm gaining it back.

what sucks is that i have battled eating disorders for a long time. i don't want food to become an obsession again whether i am eating it or ignoring it. what am i supposed to do??!!!!

hang in there babe -- i've done my time with ED, too, but gaining and losing and gaining when you're taking lots of pain meds has NOTHING to do with ED. Fear not. Frankly, I think you've moved beyond worrying about that old bear, don't you?
Personally, I decided that I might as well enjoy eating now! It's a miracle I even have an appetite some days, so when I feel the urge to eat anything, I chow down on the Yummy Treats! Pain and meds and everything do such a mean job on how your body is supposed to be working. Look at it this way: if you feel an urge to eat, that's a sign that the RSD has not affected your central nervous system! Yay!!!! Seriously - you can no longer use the tools you learned for thinking about ED in the same way anymore. Food means something different to your body. Psychologically it may still mean comfort, but I think that's OK, especially when there is so little that can comfort your body now. Also, there are some things that it is very important that you do eat now - maybe you could work those in? :) I'm fairly sure there is some good RSD nutrition guidance out there

meds?

hi there..
What meds are you on?
I gained almost 40 lbs on amitriptyline so I was switched to trazadone, and off of the gabipentin and onto lyrica.. and I have now lost almost 30 of the extra pounds I had gained from the year before.

ALSO.. here is the 4 F's diet for patients with RSD

with me I think it is hormonal or thyroidal related- LOL
the last 3 weeks it was really bad - the urge to eat even when not hungry...

I have a cold now and so the salty chips make my throat feel better - that's my theory anyway!
