Essential Oils for CRPS?
Has anyone had experience or a positive effect from using essential oils for CRPS?
I've spoken with individuals who have felt like it helped with Fibro pain and/or depression and anxiety, but I haven't come across anyone using it for CRPS yet. I would be curious as to what you used and what company it was. Thanks in advance! |
My BFF has a friend who sells essential oils for one of those MLM companies. She kept telling me that they make a difference and finally one night when I was hanging out in her office with her she invited her friend over to see if they could help me. I thought the whole thing was a load of crap but figured that it wouldn't hurt to try so at least I wouldn't get bugged about it anymore.
We did frankincense and ylang-ylang on the bottoms of my feet and back of my neck. I was amazingly surprised when in a very short amount of time it actually made a huge difference. As long as the oils are considered safe for use on the skin, or are diluted if they need to be before use, I don't think what company you get them from matters. I'm interested in a product that is quality, but at the best price I can get it at. That usually means shopping at the local herb shop for me since it's way cheaper than any of the MLM oils. You can probably talk to an MLM person about what oils they would recommend and how to use them, or research it online with some spare time. Then shop around for the best price before buying because they're freakin' expensive. They are definately in my arsenal of natural remedies for pain now though. |
Thanks for that info!

THanks again! |
I use Almond Oil. It has a nice calming aroma to me and it has anti inflammatory properties.

Out of curiosity, do you just use regular almond oil of the type that is commonly used as a carrier oil when an essential oil needs to be diluted before application to the skin? Or do you use the almond essential oil?

I pop some lavender oil in the bathtub when I do my daily soak, but I don't do anything more than that.
As they say, your results may vary, and while essential oils might be another good tool in the CRPS toolbox, I don't see any measurable symptom relief using essential oils. I've tried them a few different ways. And yes, they are not inexpensive. I'm having a tough enough time paying for my medications and so have to be very careful about what I spend my money on. Here's the kicker.....It's very hard to measure and know what is helping when most of us are using a multi-disciplinary approach to the condition. I'm throwing everything but the kitchen sink to treat mine. And there is always the placebo effect, which is not to be ignored. Not to discount that these oils may have some benefits, but sometimes it's not the product itself responsible for the "perceived" improvement......My 2 cents! |
