~ EXTREME Fatigue After a meal??? ~

I have been TRYING to gauge just how little I can eat in order NOT to get so tired, with a miriad of other unplesant things, after I eat. I mean it's crippling. :o I know I spoke to my Chiropractor about this problem and he told me to eat much smaller meals less more frequently throughout the day.

Biblically we SHOULD eat a handful of this and a handful of that as we hunt and gather. :winky: I am torn between small, high calorie meals and regular calorie meals. I am trying to lose a little weight but the frequent low calorie meals just don't stay with me very long. I get hungry again soon after.

But this is a problem because, just now, I ate a HALF of a tuna salad sandwich and already I can feel myself going down. :o Why do I get like this?? In my working days, after lunch, I was Useless for a couple hours and to TRY to be productive left me breathless and dizzy.

If anyone has any other suggestions I'd be glad to hear them.

Wiix a doc once asked me if I feel very tired after eating a meal. I said yes that I just want to lay down and sleep and I am useless for a while.

He told me that all the blood is going to that area to try to digest your food and that your body is working so hard to digest it has no energy for the rest of it.

He connected it to my thryoid condition and also told me to get a digestive enzyme.

Dont know if its the same or not.

Hope it improves

Did you feel anything just before you ate--weakness, nausea, headache? If so, you might have low blood sugar and just waited too long to eat. Eating high-protein, high-fiber (with plenty of water!) every 3 hours or so can keep your blood sugar stable and help you avoid this problem. :)

Good luck!

LIZARD :)

Yea, extreme weakness. I don't hardly ever feel hunger. I had a friend who was like this, skinny as a stick her whole life. Not me though. I shouldn't weigh this much, I don't eat that much. :o

I think you should see an endocrinologist.

and while you are waiting to see the endocrinologist, trying researching metabolic syndrome/syndrome X....good luck

Well, since I started this thread I have done some things differently and the problem has disappeared. PLUS I have dropped almost 20 pounds. Yea, I'm shocked too.

I decided to just eat smaller, lower calorie meals and to cut out the night time eating all together. I do allow myself ONE sweet thing a day though but it has to be healthy and only a NORMAL serving, not a big plateful.

I knew if I thought about it correctly I could figure what I was doing wrong.

Good for you, Wiix! thanks for giving the update.

I know I have seen in myself and my whole family (including the cats) that our personalized nutrition is KEY to keeping better health

Speaking of cats Chemar...................

I found a stray a week ago. I had seen him for a few weeks at the library parking lot, just hanging around. The people inside, when I asked, said they didn't know who he belonged to but he looked so pitiful laying in the sun, dehydrated, starved and sick. I just couldn't leave him there, he was talking to me. Mooooowwwwww, Mooooowww. It was so sad. He was dying.:( I picked him up and put him in my car and brought him home, that was a week ago today.

Anyway. He had Very BAD diarreha, some cuts to his ears and face, skinny as a stick and Filthy BUT I just knew Someone was missing this cat. He is SO friendly and loving and sweet. I even gave him a name which he seems to like, he comes whenever I call him. Anyway.......... First day here we went with some dry crunchies I borrowed from a neighbor and some cream. I haven't had a cat in maybe 30 years. That night, I TRIED to let him sleep on my bed but, I LOST a whole night's sleep from his crying. Next day I went to the store and got kitty litter and some canned catfood. I set up his Pan, an old enamel refrigerator pan I had in the closet and immediately he went right in it. This boy had or HAS an owner somewhere.

I have run an ad all week to TRY to find the owner but no calls yet Only someone who wants a cat. I will keep the ad in for another week, I am hoping the owner will see it and call me.

I JUST can't let this boy go to just anyone either. It has to be either the owner or a good home.

I gave him some Anti-Diarehhal tablets crushed in his milk yesterday and this morning since his butt is bloody from pooping so much. It seems to have slowed it down or stopped it so far. I had to put Desitin on his bum. Immediately he went to sleep. He was always lapping on it, because it hurt I'm sure.

I gave him a bath the 2nd day I had him and have been putting NeoSporin on his cuts.

All in all he is much improved and I fear he Loves me. :o Well, I Love him too. :D  He's a Sweetie.
