Happy Thanksgiving to all

Hope all that celebrate this holiday have a great day or weekend.

Many have things for the whole weekend. We are going to my mom's
to join those that don't have anywhere to go.

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

I am at my friend's house -- big family dinner with kids and a couple guests besides myself.

Offered to make cranberry sauce from scratch but they are partial to Ocean Spray which I also like... oh well.

I cooked dinner tonight and did some prep cutting for the stuffing. Tomorrow my friends will do most of the stuff in the kicthen. One or more of our people don't like mushrooms and requested a second green bean casserole with cream of chicken instead -- my friends are letting me make that one.

Wow, it is so neat to have an actual proper Thanksgiving after all this time.

:) I am thankful for this Thanksgiving, and for all my dear friends which includes you guys here.

We are all "up" (around in the common areas) late tonight. It was a long day prepping today, and with four kids here, two 2 year olds and two 8 year olds, it is exhausting. We are having adult quiet time now with wine, smokes, and a fire. I am having a private quiet moment in between our common quiet ones.

Hi, Y'all,

Have a good day

Hubby and I have no feast-day-realated-plans.

It is a vacation day. We will make sure that we appreciate that.

Bizi,

My sister would half-suggest dousing the kids with benedryl to hope that they
sleep -- but she is a little mean like that.

What is a pecan chew? Is it one of these?

Donna,

Enjoy your day. You family is generous and they seem happy from what you write about them.

Waves,
Happy fun cooking your green been casserole.
Quiet time in the evening -- very nice.

Happy thanksgiving friends!

mari,
My pecan chew was a happy accident.

Many years ago, I was making my first pecan pie, and used a vanilla wafer crust instead of a regular pie crust and I doubled the amount of pecans I use 12 oz for 2 pies. corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, salt, butter.
mix that all together and bake at 350 for 50 minutes and it comes out more like a brownie.(except no flour) there really isn't any jellied filling just chewy pecans. the crust absorbs some of the moisture.
Getting ready to snack on some food we won't eat until 4 pm and I am hungry right now have not eaten anything yet.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

I give you all permission to eat something extra yummy for me too... we don't have Thanksgiving here of course.

I get hungry thinking about turkey and beans and corn and such. I can almost smell it all cooking when I have been reading the posts here this morning.

I also think it's so wonderful that waves is enjoying this holiday again after so long.

enjoy!

Thank you, Lara! We have tons of leftovers ... wish we could send you some!

There was some confusion over who was coming apparently. In the end, there were only four adults, plus one of the babies. And an 18-lb Turkey!:D

My friend deep fries the turkey after injecting it with marinade. It was the best turkey I've ever eaten, and I mean EVER, in my entire life. Juicy as all heck, savory, and with deliciously crispy skin. And his wife makes the most awesome mashed yams (brown sugar half and half and butter). Add to that green bean casserole 2 kinds, mashed potatoes, and my friend's mom's famous stuffing, which I also used to make when I hosted Thanksgiving.

Pies... cherry, pumpkin, dutch apple crumble. I had a small slice of cherry and a bite of pumpkin. The apple I will eat today.
