Hi all, I am two months post concussion and it has been really humbling. Reading the stories here has given me perspective- I know many have it worse, so in the grand scheme of things I am really fortunate.

My injury was sustained while walking my dogs. They pulled me off balance in their eagerness to check out a dog coming our way, and since I had neglected to put the prong collar on my 45mph sighthound, she spun me around and i went airborne, backwards, then hit the road with full impact on the back of my head.

Long story short- CT scan was ok, was sent home with a hematoma & concussion. Spent too much screentime too soon trying to work - lesson learned there.
Current symptoms are vertigo, numb toes, and cognitive.

I saw a new doctor this week and he is determined to help. I have never had a doctor really listen, let alone spend 1.5 hours with one patient. The other day I noticed a Carrick training plaque on his wall-- the best coincidence ever, and only 15minutes away in Branford CT.

I'm very sorry if you've had to wait for posts to be approved. The approval process is just how it works for everyone when they're new.

All the mods here are volunteers and we're all also members of these health forums but we try to help out as much and as fast as we can, but sometimes there can be a delay.

Was this new doctor an MD or a chiropractor ? Carrick trains chiros. We have discussed Carrick many times. It is common for a Carrick Chiro Neuro to need to take an extended appointment time to understand the patient's needs and collect information.

I find it very worthwhile to have limits on newbies posting of links and such. We frequently get hit and run posters who are promoting something or someone. I wish there were some stronger controls, especially in the stickies at the top. Many of us like to get to know newbies and requiring some history of posts before allowing links and such helps us get to know the newbies.

Sadly, we do get the occasional snake oil salesman, trying to profit from our suffering by masquerading as a fellow TBI patient. Low, but true.

I meant to ask you earlier about the numb toes.
Are they numb just since you had your concussion or did you have that before?

Good morning, thanks for responding.
The doctor is a neuro chiropractor & the numb toes are post-concussion- probably ~2weeks after the incident. It's just the middle 3 toes on each foot.
Anyone else experience this? Staircases are the worst - dizzy and numb are not a good combo.

Wow, I've never heard of a numb toes symptom without it affecting other extremities. It is not uncommon for numb fingers to be isolated to thumb side or pinky side but that is related to the nerve paths from the spine to the elbow.

What cognitive struggles are you having ? Has anybody helped you with work-arounds and such to help you get through the day ? Many of us have ongoing cognitive struggles and need to use work-arounds to do everyday tasks.

Has anybody suggested trying the Epley maneuver to see if it will help with your dizziness ? Or, have you been evaluated for vestibular therapy ? Many have struggles with dizziness. I do if I move too fast so I don't get out of a chair quickly.
