Weird feeling when dizzy

Anyone experience weird sensations in the head when dizzy/off balance?
For example the dizziness/vertigo itself is more of an annoyance to me since it doesn't cause me to fall over or prevent me from driving, but the feeling I get in the head is what really bothers me and sometimes it is really debilitating.
I can't even explain what it feels like, it's not pain, but sometimes I wish I had a headache rather than this feeling.

It's not the mental overload feeling as I get that too and it's different, although
my neurotologist says it comes from the brain being overloaded trying to cope with all the conflicting signals coming from my messed up ears.

I've been trying to isolate what exactly causes it, bit it's fairly intermittent in intensity. Driving in stop-and-go traffic seems to make it worse, sometimes walking. Usually sitting down or laying down makes it better and it usually passes within an hour or so.

When my vertigo is bad I would describe my head as feeling "full"
although other people never understand what I mean.

It also feels a little like it does when I have a migraine only without
the pain or nausea. Somewhat derealized.
