natural treatment option for trigeminal neuralgia

I am a patient of trigeminal neuralgia for which I have gone through a Gamma knifeprocedure this September and my pain has now come back worse than before. Has anyone else experienced this? What are people using to manage their pain day to day? Has anyone tried the natural remedies like Tneuralgese formula, Niargim and Myellin Sheath Sarcode? Have they worked for you? I’m at my wits end. Please please help!

Hello Jim,
Sorry you are in pain.I too suffer chronic pain in my face..jaw, gums, and especially my teeth. I have ATN which isnt treatable with surgeries like Gamma Knife..I take Amitriptyline which works pretty well but the last two nights I've had increased pain. I do try natural cures but none seem to work.I take vitamin D, magnesium, Vitamin B 12. I am thinking about taking tumeric/curcumin which is suppose to help with inflamation.I eat peppers which are supposed to help restrict Substance P to relieve pain. Some people use Capsaicin cream on their face or whereever they hurt..I am not much help since I still have pain. How did you get your pain? Was is just sudden onset or through dental procedures? Mine started right after a wisdom tooth extraction...I'm here to talk if you need to. I'm on another site too which is all about neuralgias, types of pain, procedures, etc. I hope you find some sort of pain relief.
Take care
Stephanie

I haven't had much luck with natural treatments. I was on Amitriptyline and am now on Nortriptyline. I am not pain free but the medication helps a lot. I have bilateral ATN. in all three branches. My flair ups seems to be related to weather, my cycle, stress and lack of sleep...or sometimes nothing at all

I also take vitamin B12 and vitamin D

Applying hot compresses (or cold---depending on my area of pain) can help

Capsaicin cream does help a bit with my jaw and cheek pain. I use Voltaren Emugel or Tiger Balm sometimes

Lots of rest and sleep when I am in a lot of pain

Sorry that you are dealing with this pain. It is like nothing else.

Hi Jimradnor....
I have ATN that came after dental work. My doctor prescribed a specially formulated cream that I rub on my face. In the cream is Gabapentin, Lidocaine and Capsaicin. I also take a Tricylic and Baclofen. I take lots of vitamins including D3, multi, B complex and extra b 12.

I'm going through a relatively quiet period, but the fall and early winter seem better for me. Summers are extremely bad. :(Very cold weather and cold breezes are bad for me.:(

You mentioned some natural products that I haven't heard about before. Have you tried them? What are they? How did you hear about them?

"Has anyone tried the natural remedies like Tneuralgese formula, Niargim and Myellin Sheath Sarcode? "

Keep working with a patient, caring and intelligent doctor. If you don't have one of these...best to find one!
