Computer mouse for dexterity issues?

Howdy! My name is Pete, and my lack of hand dexterity is making it a bit challenging for me to use my computer mouse. I've tried a regular wireless mouse, a vertical ergonomic mouse, and a trackball mouse. The biggest problem that I have is keeping my fingers in the appropriate position to click buttons without constantly looking at my fingers to see where they are on the mouse.

So! I figured that if anybody had information about this subject, it might be some of you folks. Can anybody enlighten me? Thank you!

hi pete and welcome to NT,

i can't help with your problem but am wondering if you called your local MS society if they couldn't give you some tips about aids.

Sorry for a belated response, saw this post but my iPad keeps acting up on me. But you could try a mouse like this: http://www.amazon.com/Finger-Optical...Computer+mouse ... Hopefully you wouldn't be forced to seek buttons, or try to find one like the mice used on laptops, 90% of all mouse functions can be done with your finger moving on the pad without needing to hit buttons.

But honestly, I would strongly suggest brushing up on hotkeys. Just forget the mouse:D as a lefty in a righty mouse world, I use hotkeys almost exclusively. There might be a few games that I'm unable to and am forced to use the mouse, but the majority of my computer use is accomplished without ever touching the mouse.

I've also had luck in past re-setting computer using some handicapped settings.

Don't know if this has to do with mice, but I like Google feature 'Google Now' on my laptop. For searching the web when my fingers get tense I use Google now. You say "OK GOOGLE' and yo ucan do a total voice navigation of the web. I dunnno, saves a bit of mouse manipulation I guess.

what about the mousepad sized trackpads? That may be of help, along with adjusting the settings in your computer (accessibility settings)

What exactly is that Jane?

It's similar to the mouse for a laptop. Basically an external version of the trackpads that come installed on most laptop computers.
