Hi Baba, I cannot help w/your original question. I would guess the number of people that have had experience w/ hypnosis is very limited. So, I will tell a story that may or may not give you something to ruminate about. I worked for a big corporation that had deep pockets and one time "they" hired a hypnotist that was the spotlight of a function. The stage was lined w/volunteers and they were all "put under" as a group. The degree to how relaxed you can get is the key to the process. IMHO. The hypnotist tested the group to insure that they were indeed unnder and the teenagers were no longer in control of their mind or body. About three or four of the adults were faking and told to sit down. It was amazing, hilarious, and some of the teenagers were given key words to activate a sub-routine and scattered into the audience. At the last of the event, while you were holding your sides from laughter, the "plants" were activated by a keyword and would go into their individual routines oblivious to the howling laughter that they were standing in the midst of. I believe that it is a real thing. I believe that if sensations can be created, they could be blocked as well. BUT, not all people will be candidates as adults have had more years to wire their brains with defense mechanisms that will not allow submission to that degree. So, how low can you go? Do you think you could lie on the floor and start sinking to China or would you unwittingly fight? For your consideration, Ken in Texas.

We have threads here on relaxation exercises and hypnosis.

Just use the search engine to find them.

Some people are difficult to hypnotize and others not. So it can work well for some people. You can learn autohypnosis, which is a consciousness changing type of meditation. I've done it for many decades...learned it for my art work imagery strengthening...and found it works well for pain too. ;)
