bump on gum but not fistula

had extraction dec 24 of no 3 . turned out to be a ordeal and he did suture it.. now noticing a bump on the gum.. it is a little sore but nothing coming out of it ... should I leave it alone or have dentist check it out . thanks

Hi razzle,

The bump could be the beginning of a fistula or formation of a cyst.... or it could be a bony fragment or splinter of bone that has worked it way down to that area.

It is best to see the surgeon to rule out a fistula.A single periapical xray would determine if it is bone or not.

went to dentist last week and he said all is good , took 2 xrays and said bone is just remolding .... he said give about another 2 months and if the bump is not gone he will take if off....he said he really didn't want to do that quite yet might make it worse . I said ok .....
