Hi all - I have just joined NeuroTalk.
I am a research scientist (PhD, not a medical qualification) and my research interests include immunology and the amyloid diseases (Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, etc). I would be happy to try to help members here by "translating" information that they may have got from their clinical care teams and I hope to learn from what other members have contributed. |

It is kind of you to offer help. My Mom has dementia, not dx'ed as Alzheimer's, simply dementia. The doc who did the geriatric assessment clearly stared it was NOT Alzheimers. I am finding it difficult to distinquish between her dementia and her depression as the symptoms seem to overlap a great deal. Is there any website or literature you could perhaps direct me to that addresses this issue? She has taken meds for both illnesses and none seem to have much effect. She is 91 yrs old. Thanks, Diandra |

Very good question Diandra. I have often wondered about distinguishing between dementia and Alzeheimer's. A friend of mine's wife developed dementia in her late 40's. A co-worker's mother had Alzeheimer's in her 50's. Kiwi will be a most welcome addition to NT. Gerry |
