"Has anyone had any experience with Cerefolin Nac or Magnesium L-Threonate? Please be detailed in your description, if possible."

The firsts appears to be by prescription only. It also looks like one can buy the three ingredients separately and just combine them.

The second is a very expensive form of Magnesium. There appears to be no advantage to it over some other mag supplements.

Has somebody recommended them to you ?

yes: b-right (b complex), fish oil (3/6/9), vitamin e

am i right to assume you have not heard of the previous compounds?

Mark in Idaho 01-14-2015 08:13 PM

There are hundreds of different similar compounds sold with lots of claims. The Mag is nothing special. There are a dozen common mag compounds. The Cerefolin Nac is just a mix compounded to sell at higher prices to Alzheimer's patients.

There is nothing unique about them

Why are you considering them when you have not started with the basic regimen ? The B-Right is very low in B-12. I'd at least add some B-12 (2500 mcgs of methylcobalamin), D3 and a good calcium/magnesium tablet.

Before you start looking at these specialty compounds, you could get a blood test done to check for B-12, folate, D3, mag and calcium as a minimum.

Sorry, I forgot that the fish oil has 1000 IU of D3.

I am planning to add the Mag L-T i wrote about earlier for the mag supplement. Will also try adding more B-12. Why is B-12 useful again?

Mark in Idaho 01-14-2015 10:09 PM

B-12 helps with nerve healing and a variety of other things. If you don't believe the value of the regimen, that's fine. It works for lots of us and I was started on it by a very smart doctor. You can do what you want based on the wild claims you will find all over the internet.

Don't misunderstand me: I fully believe that it has helped you and others here. That is why is started the B-Right, Fish Oil, D3. When I emailed my two neuros about the regiment the response was "no known vitamin has been shown to help" and "just take the RDA amount of a multivitamin". I want to be very careful that I am not overzealous in my drive to heal and cause harm to myself. That is also why I asked about these other supplements in this question.

Is it that the medical community is not informed enough about vitamins and supplements or what do you think is going on?

Mark in Idaho 01-14-2015 11:47 PM

The medical community for the most part are ignorant egotists. They were never taught anything about nutrition. You will not overdose with the regimen. But as I said, believe who you want. I am tired of the second guessing.

btw, The RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) is the minimum amount needed to maintain a "minimal" health and avoid malnutrition. The Life Extension Foundation you linked to suggest MUCH higher doses that anything in the regimen.

The The Cerefolin Nac has 2000mcgs (2 mgs) of B-12. I recommended 2500 mcgs because it is a common dose that is readily available. Besides, very little of it makes it into the blood stream.

Vitamins and supplements are not a cure. They just help the brain tolerate stress and put it in a better state to try to heal.
