Quick test for everyone - I'm curious
Get a stop watch, I happened to use my cell phone's feature. Raise your left hand up all the way with palm facing inward toward your face. Press start on your stop watch with other hand. How many seconds do you get the first feelings of numbness? Keep holding up until a little while longer and bring down your palm and compare it to the other hand. Did it turn white? Repeat for right hand.
My left hand started getting numb in 10 seconds and my palm turned white in 20 seconds. My right hand started getting numb in 17 seconds and my palm turned white in 30 seconds. What's your numbers? |
Nothing on the right, but it wasn't injured.
The left; I feel numbness as soon as my arm passes chest level and the hand , forearm is fully involved within a few (less than 5) seconds and my arm up to my elbow is this horrid white after 30 miserable seconds of holding it up. Whoa! That is way freaky. I have never noticed how white my hand goes with typical usage...I mean death white and fast too. This can not be good.... |
Are you describing this test? Arms out to the sides like a stick em up posture?
[EAST Test or "Hands-up" Test The patient brings their arms up as shown with elbows slightly behind the head. The patient then opens and closes their hands slowly for 3 minutes. A positive test is indicated by pain, heaviness or profound arm weakness or numbness and tingling of the hand.] http://www.nismat.org/patients/injur...in-in-the-neck My time is better than it used to be ..and less symptoms than years ago.. but still can't go a full minute. 30 sec approx. Left side gets tight across the bicep and L hand looses coordination before the R side. both get white, but return to normal with some red flushing as soon as lowered.. I have been very lax with my stretching and on the computer too much this winter.. :( |

I don't get these symptoms anymore after the rib resections. My arm gets tired easily because my muscles are cut all over my back but not because of lack of blood flow.
