Psychological help

Hi everyone:
I am having trouble finding a psychologist for PTSD and just to help with all the other stresses of being out of work due to PCS! I've called three and have gotten NO response! I live in South Hadley, I have Health New Engkand for health insurance, if anyone near by knows of a psychologist they can recommend, I would greatly appreciate it! I need help soon, I cry at least three times a week and my S.O. (Significant Other) doesn't get it!

I wish you luck in finding someone that can help you.

I'm sure you googled everything but I found that meditation has helped me somewhat. Specifically, mindfullness based meditation for 10 - 20 minutes a couple of times a day. See if this helps you while you look for a psychologist.

Hi Lisamay,

Hopefully someone from your area can suggest someone, but in the meantime, I know that PsychCentral (NeuroTalk is affiliated with PC) has a page where you can key in your postcode/zipcode and find therapists in your area.

I'm not sure if that's any help at all but just thought I'd mention it to you. I looked up postcode for where you said you lived and only 3 came up, but you could perhaps try near by areas.

Lisamay,

First, Have you been able to get your husband to watch the YouTube video series ? He really needs to.

Have you asked your PCP or ob/gyn for a referral ?

Have you had your hormones tested ? Your thyroid as a start ( 4 tests, I think) It can cause emotional issues and can be effected by concussions.

Health New England has many different provider groups depending on the plan you have so it is difficult to search for you. Does Health New England have a medical advice line/nurse or a behavioral health specialist ? Many will plans will have them listed on the member's card.

Auto insurance often has a medical payments provision that covers things your health insurance does not (up to $1000 to $5000) It would give you freedom to choose someone out of your Health New England network.

You could try calling your county mental health department. Or

BIA-MA

Here is you closest support group for Hadley. They may have a reference for you.
