Possible to "tweak" the shunt tubing?

Our son (10) was playing with his friends today and shortly afterward came in saying that his neck hurts when he turns it a certain way. Of course it happens to be the side that his shunt tubing is on. He said that they weren't wrestling and that he or anyone else didn't bump it or hit it. Of course as Mom, I'm probably over reacting and seeing things, but I think the tract does seem to be sticking out a little farther than it normally does. ??? Right now we are watching it and I'm hoping that he will sleep it off and wake up fine in the morning. Until then I'll be up several times tonight checking to be sure he's ok. Is it possible to "tweak" the tubing? He's had several malfunctions in the past and a few infections but the last was about 7 yrs ago. Any ideas??

so how is it now? Watchful waiting pan out with no worries or are you following up with a quick check by someone in your neurosurgery dept or some neck x-rays?

We kept him home from school today for observation. He said it (his neck) still hurt a bit this morning but no symptoms of malfunction. Still not completely turning his head like "normal" but without any symptoms, I don't want to call dr. Did have a slight headache this evening, said it was a 2 on a scale of 1-10 (10 being bad). Guess we will just continue to observe.

I hope everything works out. I hate that grey in between state of things are not quite ok, but it isn't really bad. It seems like he still has symptoms worth talking to someone, do you have someone in your surgeon's office you could just talk to? We are pretty comfortable talking the the nurses on call during weekdays (they know my kid, unlike the residents and fellows).
