SGB tomorrow, really can't eat?
Hello all...
I'm [finally] having my first Stellate block tomorrow...appt. not until 1, they're telling me no food in the a.m...last time I was in for an injection that required an IV, I was sick as a dog as soon as I the IV was put in, [nurse thought it was dehydration]. It's a long time to wait...does anyone think I could eat something light, and then do clear liquids??? Any other advice? Thank you!!! |

block
I was not allowed to eat before mine too- they dont want you to throw up and aspirate- You should see if you can schedule an earlier appt....

Tried that...no luck...as it is, I was supposed to have this over a month ago! How'd yours go? I must admit, I am very nervous...had a facets injection, and other than enjoying the meds once I was on the table, it stunk...

Mine's being done under sedation...am wondering why some do it differently...

I just finished my series of SG blocks this last Friday..Not much relief here either.. All the effects of a good block just No relief... :(
My PM doc has an IV placed for precautions and asked if I wanted IV sedation but I chose none. THe procedure last less than a min. and I hate the effects of sedation unless it is a long big procedure. I had learned deep breathing exercise too and that helped BIG time.. But they also told me nothing to eat or drink after midnight.. Just incase you throw up as Debbie said you can aspirate and then you have BIG problems.. Best of luck.. Hugs  Dawn |
diffrent blocks
Hi there...
I had LSB's done last year and they sedated me too, please do not eat if they tell you not to.. I had one bad hangover from the one procedure I forgot to not eat and they said if I forget and eat to let them know and perhaps no sedation that day or posponment. was very nausious. The sedation they had me on was lighter than they use for surgerys they don't take you under as far I was told. There are diffrent types of blocks some take longer than others but as far as I know a properly done LSB or SGB should always be done under floroscopy. Good luck and I hope you get a good lasting response. |
