CRPS and Paralysis

CRPS and Paralysis ..help..please!! Omg, what the hell is happening to me now? So I’ve had type II for 10 years that is now full body. Yesterday morning I got up I pushed myself to do a few things around the house. I washed dishes, did a couple more things then sat down. I start feeling weird.. like flushed so I think I haven’t eaten, so I grab some breakfast; toast, banana and yogurt. I ate it. When I was done I sat down at my desk. Then I just sat there. I am trying to make my brain work with what I’ll do next. Then I’m trying to make my body move and it’s NOT MOVING..I’m struggling to even speak. My husband is relatively close to me and I start to try and call his name. Eventually he does hear me and comes to me. I am paralyzed from the neck down. When I’m touched or I try to move, my limbs would start shaking tremoring uncontrollably and somewhat flailing.

I’m now crying because I’m scared. I can’t even wipe my nose.

Desperate not to call an ambulance and go to the ER and hoping it would resolve; I had not had a dose of antiseizure meds yet and we manage to get meds in me. So we wait. An hour later and nothing had changed. We go to the ER via ambulance. They give me a shot of Ambien. 5 hours later and with much shaking I can move my limbs again. After a full nights rest with some sleep I feel like my old norm except for I have a RAGING unbelievable headache!

SOOOOOOO is CRPS going to paralyze me?! I left the ER with NO answers (surprise surprise). WTH is happening now?? I will go in patient for my first ketamine treatment on 03/09/15 and that's great, but what just happened?! Has anyone had this happen?

They made sure you didn't have a small stroke?

:(

They gave me a shot of ambien and said they ruled out stroke because it was in both sides (neck down). The did not do one test. It took 6 hours to be able (with a ton of shaking) to be able to get out of there and into my car to go home.

I'll call my neuro on Monday although I'm not crazy about him, but he's all I have right now.

This link states a stroke effect BOTH sides of the body in a stroke.

Considering it can be very important to get you meds after a stroke within a short period of time, you might want to consider waiting?

I'm confused Lit, but I haven't read the link yet and my head is screaming, just pounding. super migraine oh.my.gawd. I will take a look and good to know about both sides. Thank you!

Take OTC migraine meds asap! Good luck.

Edited: Maybe you need to go back to the ER????

Just reading what's going on for you and am concerned...

Maybe odd question but I'm wondering if you have Diabetes? Did they even test your insulin levels in the ambulance or at the hospital?

I would definitely NOT attribute all things to CPRS as a general rule. If something freaky and new happens it needs to get worked up just like in anybody else. There are some concerns like Lit Love raised with stroke that maybe need to be ruled out. Is everything in your neck okay? Any prior problems there that could contribute? See your neuro for sure. We don't have to like our doctors, we just have to have confidence in ther ability.
Are you sure it was Ambien they gave you? I think that is oral only, an atypical hypnotic used for sleep. Can't imagine it having a use in Emergency Medicine. Ativan perhaps? Comes in multiple forms and used in ER regularly. Just thougt you might want to double check so you know for sure what they gave you....
Might be worth a call to your Stanford person too, they might need this info.

Hang in there, sorry you are going through so much

I was told my my neurologist that CRPS 2 does not effect the body is such a way....I am in my 10th year as well and I have strange new things happening as well...so I agree with having other aspects looked into...I have mentioned that my ankle broke due to CRPS 2 and this has baffled some...so please keep us posted.... sorry you are going through this....:grouphug:
