Hi Enna70,

A Neurologist will not be helpful for diagnosing or treating PTSD and will, more than likely, refer you to a Psychiatrist for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

I have PTSD and I get MRIs due to a Neurological Disease. There was never nothing on MRI that would give any indication of PTSD.

In doing a bit of web surfing, I found that a study of Stellate ganglion block also helps PTSD....any input on this?

Sorry, I have never heard of this so I can't offer you any insight.

Take care.

Hi Enna70

** Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) can be very helpful in dealing with PTSD.

Maybe this is something that you could discuss with your health professional care team - a health professional with experience of using EMDR with his/her clients could help you.

I also have PTSD due to a car accident 4 years ago. I don't think anything can be seen on a scan or MRI. I'm not a dr, but it's been explained to me that in a traumatic event (sometimes involving a concussion) your amygdala (fight/flight signaler) becomes hypersensitive. You go into panic mode easier (lights, noise or fast movement - anything that startles) Usually a diagnostic checklist that dr conducts will determine it. Neurologist or neurpsyche dr is best. My family dr caught the signals and referred me early to a neurologist. I've been on anti-anxiety meds, and I'm told the duration is different for everyone.

Currently, TODAY, I've run out of anxiety meds and my appt is not until Wednesday. He will not talk about scrip refills over the phone. I'm angry and frustrated. Good luck to you!!
