Having strange symptoms post exercise
I went on a bike ride Wednesday - just a 1/2 hour or so and when I reached my destination, which was Starbucks with my Dad, I could not hear, my voice was weak and unable to project as well as I felt spatially unaware of my environment and essentially just completely out of it. Also had congestion in my face with no mucus to explain it away.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? After 30 months I am dying to hit my exercise routine again and things like this really discourages me. I know how lucky I am to have the faculties to ride my bike and I'm not complaining as many have it much worse, I just would love to get back in the saddle again! |
Read through some other exercise threads, there is a lot of good advice there.
Basically you have to ramp up your activities very slowly. What used to be no big deal before the injury, now will be a huge deal and might cause setbacks. Generally I would recommend walking at a slow pace for a short period of time and seeing how you do. Do that for a week and if no symptoms are aggravated then increase time/speed. Stationary bike is also a good option, you get the exercise without all the motion. But again, be careful with the level. I literally started at a pace barely above my resting heart rate for 5 mins a year ago and very slowly increased from there. |
Dots,
I am at 10 months and over did it Monday and Tuesday. I noticed last night while reading in bed I was not getting drousy and by this morning it is payday....short tempered and foggy. Bud |

This is just so weird. I know and I've read and I get it why this is happening but my psyche can't get the hint. Same thing happens to me. Foggy and grumpy- then frustrated at the grumpy and not a fun person go be around. My peppy upbeat horrray attitude sometimes wants to just say- when will this ever get better! Then I step back and take note of the small teeny tiny microscopic steps and take a nap! =} Parumphh |
