breathing pure oxygen?

Do you guys think that breathing pure oxygen can accelerate the healing? Even though you have to be cautios, because the lung can be hurt if you do it to long.

There has been a lot of discussion about HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) It takes 40 to 80 sessions to see any difference, it there is a difference. The value of oxygen is in helping stimulate capillary growth. It is a long slow process.

I would not suggest it as a self-treatment.

I've done some research on this as I was considering (or still am) HBOT, and the studies I came across seem to indicate the benefit of HBOT is more due to the increased pressure than the increased oxygen concentration.

That sounds understandable. The increased pressure causes more oxygen to go into the cells. The blood can only carry a specific amount of oxygen so the important part is getting that oxygen to cross the cellular membranes.
