Please Help! Flying without bone flap

Hi everyone,

I had accident 1.5 months ago and they did decompressive craniectomy.
My question is, can i fly without bone flap?
Is there anyone who has done that?

Thank you

likeaboss,

Welcome to NeuroTalk.

I suggest you ask your neurosurgeon about flying. We have not had much experience with your condition here.

My best to you.

I had a craniotomy in 2010 but the bone flap was replaced in the same surgical procedure (which really is the difference between craniotomy vs. craniectomy). I was released to fly about four months later.

That said, I agree with Mark and suggest that you would serve yourself better by having that conversation with your neurosurgeon and going by his recommendation rather then lay people on an internet forum.
